Greece's coast guard has rescued between Friday morning and Monday morning some 1,417 migrants near several Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.
The migrants, many of them refugees from conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan, have been traveling from the Turkish coast to nearby Greek islands in hopes of entering deeper into Europe.
