A French couple on a trip in the United States gave their lives to save their 9-year-old son.
The family was hiking the Alkali Flat Trail in New Mexico when they all began to suffer from heat exhaustion. According to the son, the three had only progressed two or three kilometers when the mother began feeling weak. She turned around to return to their car, but collapsed after another 100 meters.
The father and son continued forward but the heat caused them to lose their way. The father, too, soon collapsed and died.
The son told authorities that his parents had refused to drink their water, insisting that he have it all.
