Reports from Ferguson, Missouri, indicate that a young black man was shot during protests this morning (Monday).
According to local police the man fired at cops, who then returned fire. An official spokesperson says that an officer was "involved in a shooting after coming under heavy gunfire."
Today's protests were in commemoration of the death of Michael Brown last year. Brown, a black resident of Ferguson, was shot and killed by a white police officer. A grand jury found that the officer had acted appropriately, but Brown's death galvanized large-scale protests over police brutality around the United States.
