The South Korean minister of defense has accused North Korea of placing mines in the demilitarized zone between the two countries. One such mine exploded last week and injured two soldiers.
A spokesperson for the ministry of defense said, "We are certain they were North Korean landmines planted with an intention to kill by our enemies who sneaked across the military border."
Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff added that North Korea will "pay a harsh price proportionate for the provocation it made."
