Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has announced that he will enact reforms in order to stop corruption, following widespread protests.
Prime Minister al-Abadi explained that he wishes to get rid of the positions of vice-president and deputy Prime Minister, and added that senior appointments should not be based on quotas.
Most of his proposals still need parliamentary approval.
Following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi government was designed in an effort to ensure representation for Shi'ites, Sunnis, and Kurds.
