The Cabinet today (Tuesday) approved a five-year plan to further develop the Kotel. The plan will involve upgrading the infrastructure, greater archaeological work, and further developing the Kotel tunnels.
Israel has carried out several attempts to develop the area surrounding the Kotel in the past. However, Palestinian and Muslim leaders have pounced on any changes with accusations that Israel is trying to destroy the Dome of the Rock.
