The foreign minister stated that the international community has finally realized that an agreement cannot be forced upon the sides and the parties involved must reach a settlement via negotiations.
Peres added that he was pleased the committee realized the PA war was not the result of the September 28, 2000 visit to the Temple Mount by then opposition leader Ariel Sharon, although the committee members did state it was a contributory factor.
