Gideon (Gidi) Eilat, a former commander of the Palmach, died Tuesday at the age of 91.
Eilat was a company commander in the Palmach and led the third battalion of the Yiftach Brigade during the War of Independence. After the war, he became active in the Security Section of Kibbutz Artzi and in 1974, he helped found the Civil Guard.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Kibbutz Beit Alfa, where he made his home in 1947.
