The Toronto Jewish community was the primary target of hate crimes in 2014, according to a report that was released by the Toronto police yesterday (Wednesday). According to the report's statistics the amount of hate crimes increased this past year from the 131 registered complaints in 2013 to 146 in 2014. Police were able to arrest 22 perpetrators this past year, as opposed to 17 in 2013.
Thirty percent of all hate crimes (44 out of 146) were directed against the Jewish community, 27 against the Black community, and 16 against the Muslim community.
