The Islamic State jihadist group began bulldozing the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrod in northern Iraq on Thursday, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities reported.
"The Islamic State has assaulted the historic city of Nimrod, bulldozing it with heavy vehicles," the ministry announced on an official Facebook page. This represents the ISIS's latest attack on the country's historical heritage.
