The European Commission, which is the legislative body of the European Union, has been examining the possibility of conducting proceedings against EU member-countries who do not enforce their laws against anti-Semitism, racism, and Holocaust denial, and which may commence as early as the beginning of next year, according to a statement by Frans Timmermans, the incumbent First Vice President of the European Commission.

In a report by Kol Yisrael (Israel Radio), Timmermans is quoted as saying that the EU will not pass legislation to prohibit either circumcision or Jewish ritual animal slaughter.
