Taliban insurgents ambushed a convoy of Afghan security forces in northern Afghanistan on Monday. Twenty-two soldiers and police men were killed, an official reported.

The terrorists attacked from the mountains as the convoy passed through Laghman Valley in the Sar-e-Pul province, informed Governor Abdul Jabar Haqbeen.

In addition to those killed, 8 security forces were wounded and 7 were taken hostage by the Taliban.

"Twelve army and police vehicles are totally destroyed," Haqbeen said.
