Iran Frees Wife of Imprisoned Washington Post Tehran Bureau Chief

An Iranian journalist, and wife of the Washington Post’s Tehran bureau chief, has been released from custody, the paper reported having heard from a family member yesterday (Sunday). Yeganeh Salehi was freed on bail last week, but her husband, Jason Rezaian remains in prison, according to an e-mail by his brother, Ali.

Iran never stated exactly why Rezaian, an American-Iranian dual citizen, or his wife had been placed under arrest or the charges they are facing.  However, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif told NPR (National Public Radio) a month ago that he was being interrogated “for what he has done as an Iranian citizen.”  No further clarification was supplied.
