Chief Rabbinate Joins Fight to Lower Cost of Living

The Chief Rabbinate of Israel announced, Tuesday, that it will approve a greater number of kashrut certification bodies abroad and establish a committee to examine technological solutions for supervision of foreign dairies as a way of bringing down the price of imported dairy and increasing competition. Figures presented at a meeting of the rabbinate and various relevant ministries showed a significant price difference in dairy products between Israel and abroad.

In recent months, a joint staff of the rabbinate and the Finance Ministry has been working to reduce the impact of kashrut on the cost of living as part of the Treasury's attempts to lower the cost of living in general.
