The Health Ministry denied, Thursday evening, a claim by the Chief Rabbinate that Asaf Harofeh Hospital in Tzrifin, near Tel Aviv, was operating without the Chief Rabbinate's kashrut supervision. The ministry said, in a statement, "The Chief Rabbinate's statement is extremely puzzling, misleading the public and may risk the lives of patients who refuse to eat or religious casualties who refuse to be evacuated to hospital due to the alleged misrepresentation that the hospital ceased to be supervised by it."

Noting that it had to dismiss the hospital's chief rabbi about two months ago, after a disciplinary court found him guilty of serious acts, the ministry said the facility continued to be supervised by the Chief Rabbinate.
