Chairwoman Miri Regev of the Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee said, Sunday, that in case of violence, the police must close the Temple Mount to everyone, not just non-Muslims. Closure of the site following Muslim rioting forced the Likud Beytenu lawmaker to cancel a visit to the holy site to monitor implementation of a government decision to allow Jews to go up to the Temple Mount.

Regev issued a statement saying, "I intend to work for the freedom of religion for all citizens in Israel: Jews, Christians and Muslims. It's unthinkable that only Muslims open and close the Temple Mount according to their wishes. The role of the police is to deal with violence."
