Turkey: Violent Protests Due to New Internet Law

Turkish police fired tear gas into hundreds of thousands of demonstrators who were gathered in central Istanbul to protest the new internet law. 

The protesters were carrying signs that read things like "Erdogan, don't unplug the internet!"  Three days ago President Abdullah Gul approved a law which permits the government to block access to websites deemed to be violating privacy laws.
