Unidentified passengers aboard a Belgian train travelling between Namur and Brussels, Belgium, managed to get hold of the train’s public address system announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, we’re going to Auschwitz. Will the Jews please get ready to disembark and to take a shower.”
The January 31st incident prompted the rail company to file a complaint with police for incitement to a hate crime. According to an RTL report yesterday (Tuesday), the suspects gained access to the public address system during the afternoon rush hour.
Viviane Teitlebaum, a Jewish lawmaker in the assembly, told RTL that the witness with whom she had spoken said they thought a group of teenagers may have grabbed the keys of one of the conductors, and so had gained access.
A similar incident took place in 2012 aboard the same train line, where the criminals said, “Welcome to the train heading to Auschwitz. All Jews are requested to disembark at Buchenwald.”
