Member of Knesset Motti Yogev (Jewish Home) criticized, Sunday, the conversion law of Knesset member Elazar Stern (Hatenu'ah), which proposes to give conversion authority to all local rabbis and integrate all the streams of Judaism in the conversion process. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva, Yogev stressed that Stern's intent was desirable, noting that there were hundreds of thousands of immigrants whose Judaism was in doubt and a broad-based conversion system was needed to respond to their needs but behind the intent there have to be agreements.

Yogev continued by noting that Jewish law has preserved the people so the conversion efforts have to be coordinated with the Chief Rabbinate, adding that to think otherwise is irresponsible.
