Secretary of State John Kerry of the United States has admitted that American policy in Syria has failed, according to two senators who told the the Daily Beast Website that Kerry confessed in a private conversation with 15 members of Congress. They said Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is not keeping his promise to give up his chemical weapons according to the agreed-upon timetable, Russia is not helping to find a solution to the Syrian civil war and the Geneva II conference did not succeed.

The senators said Kerry wants to arm the rebels, among other reasons, to block the progress of the local branches of the Al-Qaeda terror network. Kerry's spokesman denied the report.
