More than 100 families who suffered personal or property loss in Sunday evening's gas-balloon explosion in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood have scheduled a meeting for Tuesday evening in the Gilo Community Center to discuss a class-action suit against Supergas. The families will get advice on just what is involved and an initial idea of the extent of the damage for the sake of proceeding with the suit.
Manager Yaffa Sheetrit of the Gilo community administration said, "The assistance of volunteers and staff to the communities of Beit Safafa and Gilo is not over, and now we have organized to make legal assistance possible to the victims in filing a class action. It is important to understand that there are people who have lost their loved ones. There are many who are injured and dozens of people left homeless and hundreds whose homes were damaged and who are forced to live in unbearable conditions. If there is negligence, the gas company should make good."
