The Knesset House Committee approved the request to change the name of the Committee on the Status of Women to the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality. The request was made by the committee chair Member of Knesset Aliza Lavie (Yesh Atid). She stated, "The status of women in Israel has undergone transformations since the creation of the committee in 1991."
