Chairwoman Miri Regev of the Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee said, Monday, that Jews must go up to pray on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City according to the custom of the place and "certainly according to the law of the state of Israel, which allows freedom of religion." Speaking at a committee discussion of regulations for such prayers, she said, "Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount has been trampled on in recent years and its important to restore and preserve it."

Deputy Religious Services Minister Eli Ben Dahan, who presented the regulations, said he hoped the proposed regulations will be acceptable to the Chief Rabbinate from the point of view of Jewish law.
