This afternoon (Tuesday) Kever Rachel (Rachel's Tomb) saw rabbis and kollel students gathered in special prayers for the healing of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who is hospitalized and in critical condition at Hadassa Hospital-Ein Kerem.
They blew shofars and waved lulavs, as per the instructions of kabbalist Rabbi Yitzhak Ben Sh'lomo Lurya Ashkenazi (the Ariza"l) as a segula (a remedy or protection) for complete health.
