Minister of Justice, Tzipi Livni, participated this evening (Monday) in a conference at the Tel Aviv Bar Association. “The judge is an interpreter of the law, and the rabbi is subject to it,” she stated.
“I have full confidence in the legal system and in law enforcement here in the State of Israel. But we have to realize two things: Each system must operate independently of the other, so that each can act without fear, except fear of the law, and so we can conduct independent audits that are not dependent upon either side”, she continued.
