The kashrut (kosher certification) department of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, in a spot check, has found more than 10 establishments using forged certificates falsely attesting to Rabbinate-certified kosher food.
In Israel, Rabbinate kashrut certificates must be renewed every 3 months and are signed by the local Rabbinic authority. They can be certified "kosher" or "extra-stringent (mehadrin) kosher."
