      Discovery of Ancient Mosaic Opened for Visitors


      The stunning ancient mosaic uncovered in recent months the fields of Kibbutz Beit Kama in the Bnei Shimon Regional Council will now be accessible to the public. The Israel Antiquities Authority and the Trans-Israel Highway Company will offer the general public the opportunity to visit the ongoing excavation for free on Thursday July 4th.

      The colorful mosaic, dating from the fourth century CE, was discovered in an archaeological excavation by the Israel Antiquities Authority conducted prior to construction of a new section of highway. Excavations before heavy road work is common as the Jewish State is home to many ancient works of art.
