Emunah Petition: Recognize Women Kashrut Supervisors

The Emunah religious Zionist women's movement is threatening to petition the Supreme Court if the Chief Rabbinate does not end its refusal to recognize graduates of the first course for women kashrut supervisors by the end of the week. Emunah is seeking official recognition and certificates of authority.

Chairwoman Liora Minka said,  "There is no reason in the world - no halakhic [Jewish legal] claim, no procedural excuse - that can explain the fact that the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, and its kashrut department, are evading and deliberately ignoring repeated requests on the matter, and in the course of a whole year did not find the time and the proper way to respond appropriately and to address such a basic, civilized and orderly request.
