The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday trading with modest gains. About 50 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,104.46, up .42 percent, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,101.98, including an advance of .46 percent to 1,230.73 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 992.08, up .39 percent.
Leading the gainers with .69 percent gains were the communications index (571.08), the financial institutions (1,148.11) and the banking component (1,178.67), while the insurance issues rose .62 percent to 1,399.61. The oil and natural-gas stocks stood at 1,175.11, up .43 percent, followed by most of the technology index, which rose four tenths of a percent to 315.86, while the biomed issues stood at 854.28, up .29 percent, and the real-estate stocks advanced .28 percent to 353.46.
Monday marked the first day that the exchange will continue trading until 17:25 in order to better align with foreign markets, Monday through Thursday.
