Rabbi Stav: Rabbi Neuwirth's Contribution is Unique

Chairman David Stav of the Tzohar rabbinical organization reacted, Tuesday, to the death of Rabbi Yehoshua Neuwirth, author of Shemirath Shabbath, by saying, "Rabbi Neuwirth's great contribution to the Jewish world is unique." He explained, "The rabbi had the merit to translate the world of halakhic (Jewish legal) concepts from before the Industrial Revolution into contemporary concepts to which everyone could connect. The rabbi's special personality was characterized by amazing modesty and humility before his mentor and rabbi, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach."

Noting Rabbi Auerbach's role in the writing of Shemirath Shabbath, Rabbi Stav said, "Rabbi Neuwirth merited that his book is found in every house that wants to observe the Sabbath according to Jewish law."
