Boycott? What Boycott? Rocks Groups Flock to Israel

Following the announcement that Alicia Keys would play in Israel this summer despite boycott calls, many media outlets have been reporting an organized boycott-divestment-sanctions campaign against Israel. However far more bands have chosen to play in Israel then the 3 or 4 who have cancelled due to political concerns or unstated reasons. The latest is the Legendary Pink Dots, an experimental rock group with a large following that began in the 1980s and has released over 40 albums. The band members are British and are currently based in the Netherlands. They will play in Tel Aviv at the Barby concert hall on June 7th. On Wednesday, Grammy award winning American blues singer Johnny Winter performed in Tel Aviv. Alicia Keys, the multi-platinum selling American singer and pianist will perform on July 4th. In October the American rock group The Killers will perform. In the past several years Israel has become a must-stop spot for touring musicians attracting the likes of Elton John, Madonna, Justin Bieber, Guns n Roses, as well as classical and jazz performers. Israeli musicians such as Idan Raichel, Infected Mushroom, Asaf Avidan and others have been touring the world as well to sell-out performances
