Jewish Home Source: Our Choices for Rabbis May Not Win

The Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party) endorsed Rabbi David Stav, Sunday, as its candidate for Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Israel, but not without heated debate. The party endorsed Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu of Tzfat for the position of Chief Sephardic Rabbi.

A source within the party told Arutz Sheva after the vote that there is a chance that Rabbi David Lau of Modi'in, one of the sons of former Chief Ashkenazic Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, will be elected to the post his father once held, and incumbent Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo will be re-elected.
