Suspect in Burning of Arab Field to Remain in Jail

The Jerusalem District Court denied, Friday, the appeal of the Honenu legal-aid organization against extension of remand until Sunday of a man suspected of setting fire to a field in the Arab village of Zif in the Hevron Hills on Tuesday. The court released, Thursday, four youths who were arrested at the same time in the man's vehicle. The fire broke out after Israeli troops demolished the home of a young couple in the Hevron Hills Jewish outpost community of Havat Ma'on.

The court rejected the argument of attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir that in cases where Arabs were accused of setting fires to fields, the police did not ask for extension of remand.
