District Court Upholds Release of 4 in Anti-Arab Arson

The Jerusalem District Court upheld, Thursday, the Jerusalem Magistrates Court's release of four Jewish youths who were arrested on suspicion of setting fire to an Arab-owned field following the destruction of a young couple's home in the Hevron Hills Jewish community of Havat Ma'on. The district court agreed with the lower finding that there was no evidence to tie the youths with the fire.

The magistrates court did extend, until Sunday, the remand of the owner of the car in which the youths were arrested, to allow the police to exhaust their avenues of investigation. The Honenu legal-aid organization appealed the extension and a hearing on the appeal is scheduled for Friday morning in the district court.
