Budget Cuts May Mean Less Reserve Duty

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are considering cancelling a considerable number of reserve-duty days in the second half of 2013 as a way of dealing with the recent three-billion-shekel cut in the defense budget.

As a result, training for regular IDF units may be drastically reduced or curtailed in order to assign regular troops to areas currently staffed by reservists. No final decision has been made.
