Transportation and Road Safety Minister Yisrael Katz said Friday, "Port reform is final and not subject to change. We are determined to complete it by all means possible. Katz's words were part of an open letter he sent to Chairman Ofir Eini of the Histadrut Labor Federation, who had called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in a letter, to condemn remarks about the ports by Economics Minister Naftali Bennett. Responding to Eini's charge of incitement, Katz said, "The ones who are inciting and threatening are the ports unions, which are threatening to strike the ports as if they were their personal property and to harm the economy to stop the reform."
Referring to railroad reform and the recently-approved "open skies" agreement with the European Union in spite of Histadrut threats, Katz said, "This kind of behavior did not deter us then and won't deter us today."
