Member of Knesset Eitan Cabel (Labor) sharply attacked, Friday, the outline of military inductions recommended by the Perry Committee on Equal Burden of Service. Writing on his Facebook page, the former party secretary-general said, "Real equality is induction at the age of 18, without deferral and without 'maybe'." He added that "The hareidim will continue to marry at a young age, some of them will evade service and the rest will be so expensive to keep that it will not be worth the Israel Defense Forces' while to induct them."
Referring to Chairman Yair Lapid of the Yesh Atid party and Naftali Bennett of Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party), the driving forces behind the recommendations, Cabel said, "Lapid and Bennett went here at the expense of the hareidim but the ones paying the price for their political deals are, of all people, the secular." Referring to their talk of new politics, he said, "This is not the new hope we were looking forward to from the two brothers who have quickly become a pair of old-school politicians."
