Shekel Down; Yen Outpaces US Dollar, Pound, Euro

The official value of the shekel declined by an average of .733 percent, Thursday, against most of the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.702, up 1.01 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro rose .478 percent to 4.7678 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.578, up .788 percent, while 100 Japanese yen jumped 2.425 percent to 3.6496 shekels. The Canadian dollar was set at 3.5801 shekels, up .505 percent, while its Australian counterpart rose .293 percent to NIS 3.5895, and the South African rand was fixed at .3856 shekels, up .13 percent, and the Norwegian krone declined .158 percent to NIS .6338.
