Rabbi Shimon Cohen, Director of Beit Moriah says the new law incorporating more non-Orthodox members in the Chief Rabbinate election committee could eventually lead to a situation where anti-Orthodox members could cast their vote for a candidate who will not be acceptable to the Orthodox religious majority in Israel. "The Chief Rabbi must be in consensus, and such members may not take this into consideration," explains Rabbi Cohen.
