MK Dr. Aliza Lavie welcomed the approval of the Stern Law in the Knesset Wednesday, "Today we made another step towards having all Israelis finally embrace the Chief Rabbinate. This law is the last lifeline to preserve the relationship between the Chief Rabbinate and Israeli society. In order to preserve the status of the Chief Rabbinate and make it accessible to the public, the selection process of the Chief Rabbis must allow adequate representation of women from various religious affiliations."
