German: More Medicinal Cannabis in Israel than Europe

Health Minister Yael German referred to the issue of medical cannabis in the Knesset Wednesday, "Cannabis is not a drug, and has not been empirically proved to be effective, but there is evidence it suppresses pain. It is defined as a dangerous drug and therefore requires a permit. Israel distributes more pharmaceutical marijuana than any other country in Europe. "

"I think every patient helped by cannabis should get a permit, legality is another matter," said German in response to an urgent query from MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud Beyteinu), who wanted to know how the Ministry of Health intends to allow each patient access to Medical cannabis treatment. Recent Ministry regulations, said Feiglin, deny Cannabis to tens of thousands who have already used it as a remedy or could do so in the future.
