Education Minister Shai Piron announced, Monday morning, that the ministry will allocate 600-1,000 aide positions in kindergardens for children ages three and four. Reviewing his plans for the 5774 (2013-2014) school year with the Knesset Education, Culture and Sports Committee, he said the positions would be filled by women in the national volunteer service.
Rabbi Piron said the main central goal to which he wanted to lead was the reduction of societal gaps and creation of solidarity among all the sectors of society. He said, "Social disparities are a moral disgrace to society. It's unthinkable, that after 65 years of Israel's existence, we can live with the fact that there are still a large number of children who are doomed to a future without an education and without a profession."
