The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday-morning trading with modest to moderate gains. About 50 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,106.85, up .55 percent, while the TA 100 rose .54 percent to 1,103.29, including an advance of .53 percent to 1,229.15 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,003.75, up .67 percent.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which climbed 1.3 percent to 1,369.00 as the financial institutions stood at 1,125.22, up .68 percent, including a .41-percent hike to 1,162.33 by the bank issues. Next came the communications stocks, which stood at 549.22, up 1.29 percent. The real-estate index rose .53 percent to 347.37 and most of the technology issues stood at 324.00, up .52 percent, while the biomed stocks rose .44 percent to 864.04. The oil and natural-gas index stood at 1,169.00, up .19 percent.
