If the IDF Doesn't Act, the Protests will Continue

Mayor Moshe Rosenboim of Beit El said, Thursday evening, that demonstrations by residents of the Binyamin-region community against rock throwing by residents of the adjacent Palestinian Authority village of Jalazun would continue if the Israel Defense Forces don't take action against the stone throwers that does not involve the use of tear gas. His words came during a conversation with a senior IDF officer after soldiers had to return demonstrators to Beit El after they tried to enter Jalazun.

The use of tear gas has been counterproductive because winds in the area often blow the riot-control measure into the Jewish community it's supposed to protect. The senior officer said the IDF would thwart the stone throwing, not with tear gas but via "other, more painful means".
