Syrian Rebels Claim Victories

The Free Syrian Army gained partial control of the Dara'a area of southern Syria, Thursday, in an ongoing attempt to crush the government's 52nd Armored Division. With fighting continuing in the late afternoon, Arab media reported that Brigade 232 had fallen to the rebels. The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Habar reported that the rebels brought down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the suburbs of the northwestern city of Homs. It was also reported that a cable intended to secure government communications was cut during the last 24 hours between Homs and Damascus, forcing the troops loyal to President Bashar Al-Assad to use less secure wireless communication.
