Ramon International Airport 4 Years Away

A cornerstone was laid, Thursday morning, for the Ramon International Airport to be built in Timna, just north of Eilat, at a cost of 1.7 billion shekels. The airport is scheduled to be operational in four years.

The airport is to be named for Ilan Ramon, Israel's first astronaut, who died in the breakup of the space shuttle Columbia in 2003, and his son Asaf, who died in an Israel Air Force training mission in 2009.
