Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, met on Wednesday with family members and supporters of the Israeli citizen imprisoned in Egypt for the past 12 years. Edelstein said because he is a former Prisoner of Zion from the Soviet Union, he identifies deeply with the story of Ouda Tarabin, and expressed hope for a quick release. He stated that his jail sentence was unjust and disproportionate. Tarabin was arrested by Egyptian authorities for illegally entering the country. He was 19-years-old at the time.
