Shekel Up; Yen, Outpaces Pound, Euro, Dollars

The official value of the shekel rose an average of .485 percent, Thursday, against most of the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.574, down .362 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro declined .509 percent to 4.7071 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.5696, down .281 percent, while 100 Japanese yen slipped .019 percent to 3.6753 shekels. The Canadian dollar was fixed at NIS 3.5487, down .48 percent, while its Australian counterpart plummeted 1.422 percent to 3.6598 shekels, and the South African rand was set at NIS .3959, down 1.074 percent.
