Knesset Postpones Tax Bill for Working Spouses

Member of Knesset Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism Party) was disappointed in the postponement of a vote on his new tax bill. The Knesset postponed by 30 days the date of the vote in a preliminary reading of a bill to amend the Income Tax Ordinance. The bill would affect the calculation of taxes collected from spouses who work together. MK Gafni said that some in the Ministry of Finance who were initially in favor of the bill now seem to be against it. He hailed it as a reform that would help husbands and wives with shared income. MK Gafni is the chairman of the Finance Committee.
