Over 4942 acres of natural forestation were consumed in three fires that raged Tuesday in the Lachish region. One of the blazes was caused by a stray IDF bullet fired at the Lachish IDF Central Command base firing range. Many firefighters are on location with aircraft support.
Monday's huge forest fire in the same area was only finally extinguished at 1:00 am. The delay was due to shifting winds fanning and increasing the flames.
